Privacy & Cookie Policy

How we handle website enquiries, respect your choices and explain cookies. If anything is unclear, please get in touch.

Who we are

Red Rose Blind Bowlers (RRBB) is a charity based in Lancashire, UK, associated with the BBS Tenpin Leagues. We are responsible for the personal information we collect through this website and when you contact us about it. This is known as being the “data controller”.

This notice explains how we handle website enquiries under UK data protection law, including the UK General Data Protection Regulation (UK GDPR) and the Data Protection Act 2018, as amended. Cookie rules also apply under the Privacy and Electronic Communications Regulations (PECR).

Email hello@rrbb.org.uk or call 07515 113295 with a privacy question, to exercise a right, or to request this information in a more accessible format.

Information you share with us

If you email or telephone us, we may receive your name, contact details and the information in your enquiry. This might concern joining, bowling arrangements, volunteering, fundraising or sponsorship. Business enquiries may include your company name and role.

You choose what to tell us. Please share only what is needed for your enquiry, and avoid sending medical records, payment card details or sensitive information about someone else. We need enough information to reply and help with your request.

This website currently directs enquiries to email and telephone; it does not provide an online membership application or payment checkout. If you go on to join or take part in an activity, we will explain any additional information requirements at that stage.

Why we use your information

We use enquiry details to answer questions, discuss participation or support, arrange follow-up and keep a record of our conversation. Our lawful basis is our legitimate interest in running the charity and responding to people who contact us, balanced against their privacy rights.

Technical information, such as IP addresses, browser details and requests for pages, may be processed by our hosting service to deliver the website, diagnose faults and protect it from misuse. Our legitimate interest is operating a reliable, secure website.

Where processing is necessary to meet a legal obligation, we rely on that obligation. Where we ask for consent for a particular use, we will explain the choice at the time. Contacting us about bowling or sponsorship is not, by itself, agreement to receive unrelated marketing.

Sight loss and support needs

Information about your sight loss, disability or health can be particularly sensitive. You do not need to give us a diagnosis to ask a general question.

If we need to record health-related information to discuss support for you, we will explain why and ask for your explicit consent, unless another lawful condition applies and has been explained to you. We will limit the information to what is needed and who can access it. You can withdraw consent by contacting us; we will explain any effect this may have on the arrangements we can make.

Who may receive information

Enquiries are handled by the people authorised to help with RRBB’s work. Service providers supporting our website, email and IT may process information on our behalf. We limit sharing to what is necessary for the relevant purpose.

RRBB’s association with the BBS Tenpin Leagues does not mean that every website enquiry is automatically sent to BBS. If an enquiry leads to league participation, we will explain any necessary sharing with the relevant organiser before it takes place.

Information may also need to be disclosed where required by law or to deal with a legal claim. We do not sell personal information.

Where a service involves transferring personal information outside the UK, UK data protection requirements must be met, for example through recognised adequacy arrangements or appropriate contractual safeguards. Contact us for information about the providers and safeguards relevant to your enquiry.

Keeping information

We keep personal information only for as long as it is needed for its purpose. For enquiries, this depends on whether the matter is resolved, whether there is an ongoing relationship, and whether a record is needed for a complaint or legal obligation. Information no longer needed should be securely deleted or anonymised.

We take reasonable steps to protect information from loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No internet service can be guaranteed completely secure, so please contact us first if you need to share particularly sensitive information.

Your privacy rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can ask for access to your personal information, correction of inaccurate information, deletion, restricted use, or a portable copy of information you provided. These rights are subject to legal conditions and exceptions.

Your right to object: you can object to processing based on legitimate interests because of your particular circumstances. You can object to direct marketing at any time.

Where we rely on consent, you can withdraw it by email or telephone. This does not affect processing that was lawful before withdrawal.

Use the contact details above to make a request. We may need to confirm your identity. We will normally respond within one month, subject to any extension or other adjustment allowed by law.

Cookies and similar technologies

Cookies are small files stored on your device by a website. Similar technologies include browser storage. Some last only for a browsing session; others remain until they expire or are deleted.

This website uses WordPress. When someone visits the sign-in area or signs in to manage the site, WordPress can use cookies to check browser support, maintain the signed-in session and remember administration preferences. These relate to administration; you do not need an account to read our public information pages.

Cookies strictly necessary to provide a service you request may be used without consent. Other uses may require consent unless a specific legal exception applies. Where consent is required, it must be a genuine choice made before the technology is used. Simply reading this policy or continuing to browse is not consent.

You can inspect, block or delete cookies using your browser’s privacy settings. Blocking necessary cookies can prevent features such as signing in from working. Browser controls do not replace a website’s obligation to obtain consent where required.

If optional analytics, advertising or embedded third-party features are introduced, their purposes, providers and storage periods need to be explained and appropriate choices provided. This notice should be updated whenever the website’s use of cookies changes.

Links, questions and complaints

Links to other websites take you to services with their own privacy and cookie notices. Opening an email link also uses your chosen email service.

If you are concerned about how we use information, please contact us so we can try to put things right. You also have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.

We will update this page when our website or information practices change. The date below shows when this wording was last updated.
